Government Structure
The City of Owensville was incorporated in 1911 as a Fourth Class
City with a Mayor-Board of Aldermen government structure. The
Mayor and Aldermen serve two-year terms. There are two wards in the
City with two Aldermen who live in each ward as representatives.
Terms of office are staggered.

City Hall
City Council meetings are held at City Hall, located at 107 W. Sears
Ave., on the first and third Monday of each month. City officials may be
reached through City Hall at (573) 437-2812. The public is invited to the city
meetings.
Communications Department
Owensville Communications Department is located at 105 North
Second Street. This department provides 24 hour communication ser-
vice for the Owensville Police, Owensville Volunteer Fire Department,
and Owensville Area Ambulance District. To report an emergency call:

Police
The Owensville Police Department provides 24 hour police protec-
tion to city residents. OPD is located at 109 N. Second Street. Phone
(573) 437-2195.
Business / Merchants License
Merchants doing business within the city are required to purchase
a license through the City Collector's office.
Liqour License
A city liquor license is required for businesses selling alcoholic
beverages. This may be applied for through the City Clerks office.
Municipal Utilities
Owensville Municipal Utilities include water, sewer, and electric.
Bills are sent out the 1st of each month. Payment may be made at the
utilities office located in City Hall located at 107 West Sears Avenue.
A deposit of $100 is required before services are turned on at the
residence or business. This deposit is refunded if you move from the
city. Hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, Phone: (573) 437-2812.
Natural Gas Utility

Streets
City streets are maintained by the Street Department. Sidewalks
and curbing are the responsibility of the property owner.
Yards / Grass / Weeds
It is the responsibility of the property owner, renter, etc. to remove
tall weeds growing on his property and to keep his grass mowed and
the land in an orderly fashion.
Trash
Trash removal is the responsibility of the property owner or renter.
It is a violation of city ordinance to dump any garbage or refuse upon
any street, alleyway or public place within the city. Contact Swinger/
