Emergency Response

The Owensville Volunteer Fire Department covers the southern half of Gasconade County which includes the City of Owensville.  The force consists of volunteers who faithfully respond to 170 or more calls each year. Two firehouses are located in Owensville and one is located in Mt. Sterling.  Owensville Rural Fire Protective Association  You can have rural fire protection by becoming a member of the Owensville Rural Fire Protective Association, Inc.  For each farm or dwelling outside the corporate limits of the City of Owensville, membership with the O.R.F.P.A., Inc., is of the utmost importance.  That includes Landwehr's Subdivision, Peaceful Valley, Rolling Homes (Davis) Trailer Park and others that are not within the city limits.  If you have two pieces of property you need two memberships, ect.  Applications can be picked up at City Hall, the dispatchers office, the loan department of the banks and savings and loan, insurance offices, real estate offices and many other places too numerous to mention.  Dues are $30.00 per property address every year.  A $500 fine is assessed if property owner is not a member and services are provided.  Residents of the rural Owensville area may contact Charles Rademacher, Secretary/Treasurer, at (573) 437-2972 for an application, or for more information regarding membership to the Owensville Rural Fire Association.  New members are always welcome.

Owensville Area Ambulance District  The Owensville community formed an Area Ambulance District in 1974.  The original Ambulance Association was formed in 1973.  The O.A.A.D. covers approximately 125 square miles of the southern half of Gasconade County.  The District is governed by six elected Board of Directors.  The staff currently consists of seven full-time paramedics, one part-time paramedic, two full-time EMT's and ten part-time EMT's.  The district takes great pride in its service and is committed to providing the best personnel  with the most training and best equipment possible with 3 ambulances serving the community.  The ambulances and the business office is located in the new ambulance building at 405 East Lincoln Avenue.  The business office number is (573) 437-4353.  The area ambulance crew responds to a growing number of calls each passing year.
